Countryside tour "The Gooi"
This
morning we drive to the most picturesque part of the Netherlands.
"The Gooi" just 20 minutes from Amsterdam city. Our first stop
is the city of 'Naarden' founded in 1350, the capital of the 'The Gooi'
region, the only fortified city in Europe with a double girdle of walls
and moats, the original shape has been retained through the centuries,
making Naarden one of the most beautiful preserved cultural monumental
towns in The Netherlands. We drive on through the countryside, viewing
Blarcium, Laren and Huizen. A stop will be made at 'Westland' cheese
factories, Holland's largest exporter of Dutch Cheese world-wide. We
continue our drive through 'reclaimed land' with hundreds of modernized windmills,
giving a new
and interesting aspect to the Dutch countryside. We then Return to Amsterdam. |
